‘DRUGS PARTNERSHIP CASH FORFEITURE’
On Friday 14th December 2007, the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court granted the forfeiture of £442,315.00 cash. This money derived from a Middle Market Drugs Partnership (MMDP) operation during June 2007. During the operation officers
searched a car and found the cash in the vehicle’s boot. The driver, who was the only occupant, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and is currently awaiting trial in respect of money laundering offences.
London RART dealt with the investigation in respect of the cash itself and all court applications.
Due to the on-going criminal aspect of the case and forthcoming trial, further details cannot be released at this time.
The MMDP is a pro-active operation set up to combat drugs supply in London and is staffed by Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime detectives and officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency.
