Fifth Conspirator Brings Confiscation Total To Over A Million

On the 15th of April 2009, a 61 year old man from Leicestershire became the fifth conspirator in a global counterfeit ring to receive a confiscation order. He was given an order for £573,062 and 25,000 Euros at Kingston Crown Court with a default sentence of three and a half years.

The man was convicted of 11 offences relating to his involvement in the supply of counterfeit medicinal products namely Viagra, Cialis and Propecia.

Promoting himself as a qualified pharmacist with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, the man was a pivotal conspirator in the ring. He was acting as the intermediary dealing with the counterfeiters based abroad, smuggling 'made to order' fakes into the UK.

On the 4th of October 2007, he was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for his crimes.

London RART have carried out the financial investigation on all conspirators in this case and have confiscated £1,325,992.48 and 25,000 Euros to date. There will be three further confiscation hearings for the final conspirators, Ashwin Patel, Zahid Mirza and Alpesh Patel.
