About Us
The Wales Regional Asset Recovery Team is a multi agency law enforcement team which covers the South Wales, Dyfed Powys and Gwent Police force areas. Due to geographical advantage the North Wales Police force area is serviced by the the North West RART.
The team is headed by Detective Chief Inspector Chris Dodd, a Gwent Police Officer, with Alan Brown, a Senior Officer from HMRC, the Operational Team Leader. The team comprises Police officers, Revenue and Customs officers, financial analysts, civilian financial investigators, support staff and a CPS Lawyer.
The aim of the team is to maximise opportunities under the Proceeds of Crime Act. We seek to make a significant contribution to a reduction in crime and ensure the effective delivery of justice by:-
- Making Asset Recovery through CONFISCATION an integral part of criminal investigation.
- Using CASH FORFEITURE powers.
- Increased action to disrupt those involved in MONEY LAUNDERING.
- Refer suitable cases to the Serious and Organised Crime Agency(SOCA), where civil or taxation provisions may be applied.
- Maximising Financial Intelligence opportunities
"Asset recovery is critical to the fight against all levels of crime and is one of the
government's top priorities for law enforcement.
The achievements made over the last five years are impressive and I want to
congratulate the hard work and sheer determination of all those who have helped
us accomplish the £125million target we set. However, we are not complacent and
we are committed to go even further to ensure criminals are not profiting from
crime or from the misery of others"
Vernon Coaker (Home Office Minister)
