Finance fraudster’s wallet gets a little lighter!
Mark Fraser WHITFIELD is required to pay £13,715.24 within 12 months or face an 18 month term in prison if he does not comply with the court ruling.
In December 2005 Mark Fraser WHITFIELD was found guilty at Stafford Crown Court of an offence of Conspiracy to defraud, following an investigation by the Staffordshire Police Economic Crime Unit. The offence related to fraudulent invoices he submitted to finance companies whilst he was running his car sales business called ‘Burton Car Sales’ based in Wellington Road, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire. WHITFIELD, age 40, of Duffield, Derbyshire was sentenced earlier this year for the offence and received a Community Punishment Order of 240 hours.
On 1st June 2006 a Confiscation Hearing was held at Stafford Crown Court. WHITFIELD was found to have benefited from the offence in the amount of £219,315.80 and was ordered to pay £13,715.24 within 12 months or face an 18 month prison sentence in default.
